I had a life changing accident just over 5 years ago, which has now resulted in me being in a wheelchair. I fell out of my bedroom window whilst trying to reach up for something and instead of finding something safe to stand on, I just went ahead and tried to get the item down. The accident has left me being a paralegic with movement in my legs, though I don't have the stability to walk on them. I broke my back at T12/L1 (it is lower down the back just below the waist line) and I did damage my spinal cord. They always say it's not how you fall, it's how you land and from this I landed badly. As a result of this accident it has made me re-think and look hard at my life as it was before the accident and I've been able to make changes to my life for the better. Just because someone has a disability, it doesn't mean that their life is over. I now feel incredibily lucky and happier with my life now than I was before the accident.

If you speak to anyone who is para or tetraplegic, you'll find that humour is a good way of coping with what is going on with your body. So with this I have a brilliant sense of humour, I'm always laughing, especially when it comes to anything that involves me talking/describing what's it is like to be in a wheelchair.

I will answer any questions about my situation, as I'm fine when it comes to that. Going on any dates will be a bit different for me, as it will be strange because it has been ages since I've been on any dates. Almost like I'll be starting for the first time.

So if you feel like chatting get in touch, I'd love to hear from you.

Helen
